Glossary

Fair odds
The price a bet would have with no bookmaker margin, from sharp markets. If a book pays more than fair, the bet is +EV.
Edge (EV %)
Fair win chance × decimal price − 1. 3% means about $3 expected per $100 over many bets, not on any single one.
Confidence
0–100: how many sharp sources agree, how fresh their prices are, and how believable the edge size is.
CLV
Closing line value: your price vs the sharp market's final fair price. Consistently positive CLV is the best sign of a real edge.
Kelly
A bet-sizing formula based on edge. We default to quarter Kelly with a hard cap, because full Kelly swings too hard.
Arbitrage
Betting every outcome at different books so the total pays the same whatever happens. Margins are small and books may limit you.
Middle
Two bets on the same game at different numbers (e.g. +3.5 and −2.5) that can both win if the result lands between.
Units
Bet size in multiples of your standard stake (1u). Records in units let you compare bettors fairly.
